Hsinchu, Taiwan - Accton Technology Corporation (Accton hereinafter), (TAIEX: 2345) announces today the first standalone L2/L4 switch in its new switching product line, LEO. Based on Acute Communications silicon, a subsidiary of Accton Technology, the LEO family is the first L2/L3/L4 switches to enter the market using Taiwan developed silicon. "Once a technology reaches maturity, it is common for Taiwan companies to begin producing a lower costing ASIC," said David Myers, OEM Marketing Director for Accton Technology. "By working together with Acute Communications, Accton is now in the position to offer the lowest priced 10/100 switch solutions with gigabit uplinks to our customers. Over the past three years, Accton's R&D has also proven our software capability within the switching industry, and will be able to port this over to deliver both stackable and standalone switches with a full set of Layer 3 features as well as Quality of Service." The LEO family is made up of four separate products.
Once installed, LEO can be remotely upgraded to provide stacking or Layer 3 functionality. Thus ensuring the end-users investment for future demands. Features provided with the LEO family of products include:
