Hsinchu, Taiwan – Accton Technology Corporation (Accton hereinafter), (TAIEX: 2345) and Microelectronics Technology Inc. (MTI hereinafter), (TAIEX: 2314) today introduced an outdoor carrier class grade wireless bridge. This device was jointly developed using MTI’s RF hardware and Accton’s enterprise wireless software platforms.
“By introducing this wireless bridge to Accton’s wireless product line, we are now in the position to offer a complete range of wireless solutions that will cover all demand from the consumer, enterprise, and carrier segments,” said David Myers, OEM Marketing Director of Accton “It was also the first step in licensing our software to other manufacturers of wireless hardware to ensure end to end interoperability between all wireless products on the network.”
“MTI has been a leading player in the microwave and wireless infrastructure subsystems segment for devices ranging from 900MHz to 40GHz. To extend our product portfolio to the quickly emerging Wi-Fi market, MTI developed this weatherproof 802.11a bridge. Combining Accton’s software capability, with MTI’s hardware expertise through co-development and cross licensing, MTI is in a better position to strengthen its offerings for carrier-grade Wi-Fi demands,” said Wesley Huang, President of MTI
A high-capacity device that supports 802.11a, the carrier grade bridge supports up to 108Mbps data speed in Turbo Mode, and has a range of up to 5 Kilometers. Designed around 802.11a specifications provides the user with 12 non-overlapping channels and is a perfect solution for linking two buildings together, or allowing ISPs to support wireless broadband.
Engineered to address industry security and design requirements, the outdoor bridge supports:
- Strong Security Support (WEP, 8021x, RADIUS, IAPP)
- Dynamic data rate switching with auto fallback capability
- Full weatherproof outdoor design with a built-in lightning protector
- Web-based management, Enterprise Network Management and SNMP
- Operating Temperatures ranging from –33 to +55 Degrees C
Available for mass production in June, and samples for customer evaluation now, the Outdoor Carrier Grade Bridge will be demonstrated for customers at this years Networld+Interop show in Las Vegas.
