Accton Technology Corporation (TAIEX: 2345), a global premier provider of networking and communications equipment, today announced its WiMAX CPE is the first to receive “Taipei Summit Interoperability Certification of M-Taiwan”. This summit is operated by Institute for Information Industry (III) and “Institute of M-Taiwan WiMAX Certification” for the “WiMAX Testing Technology Support Center” in the “Mobile Taiwan Implementation Program” entrusted by the Industry Development Bureau, Ministry of Economic Affairs and Industrial Technology Research Institute. This is to ensure interoperability and compatibility between the manufactures participating in the “Mobile Taiwan Implementation Program”. The 2007 Taipei Summit ASIA-Pacific WiMAX will be held on May 14thand 15th in Taipei International Convention Center.

“Mobile Taiwan” (M-Taiwan) is one of the ten New Major Construction Projects by the Executive Yuan. “Testing for interoperability certification program” is one of its main tasks to ensure that all networks, built by each project, use interoperable infrastructures. At the same time, with the resources invested by the government, domestic testing and certification services industry can receive assistance to establish relevant testing procedure for WiMAX energy detection. Via the establishment of compatibility and interoperability among different types of networks, it is expected that the mobile web and wireless internet can be consolidated and established the world’s first dual networking service environment.

This test includes devices that conform to IEEE 802.16-2004 and IEEE 802.16e-2005 standards. The Base Station and 802.16e Mobile WiMAX CPE developed by Accton Technology has successfully passed all kinds of interoperability tests and direct compatibility tests with many manufacturers’ devices. Accton’s products not only work with Base Stations of other brands, but also are compatible with almost all base-station-related equipments in the market. Accton Technology has demonstrated the knowledge and experience of the Mobile Taiwan Program with its excellent results and advanced domestic testing industry. Moreover, Accton leads the field in receiving certification of Taipei Summit 2007, enhancing the confidence for building M-Taiwan.

Dr. An-Yi Chen, dean of M-Taiwan WiMAX Testing Technology Support Center, states, “In the 2007 Taipei Summit IOT test event, Accton delivered the greatest types of products compared to all the manufacturers. This has shown their dedication towards the M-Taiwan Program and their readiness for production. The Mobile Station by Accton is interoperable with a variety of Base Stations. We believe that Accton indeed has the cutting-edge R&D technology for all kinds of innovation and implementation”.

Mr. Cashew Chen, the executive vice president of Accton Wireless Broadband (AWB), an Accton subsidiary company, said, “The Accton WiMAX CPE has passed the WiMAX PlugFest held by Malaga, Spain, in early February this year; to receive the “Taipei Summit Certification of M-Taiwan once again is an positive affirmation for our company, proving that Accton BS/WiMAX CPE stands out among the rest and has the potential in the global market”.
