Hsinchu, Taiwan- Accton Technology Corporation of Taiwan (TAIEX: 2345, www.accton.com), global outsourcing partner for networking and communications solutions, today announced its new V2fone technology for efficient, effective voice and video communication over IP.Designed to be used between enterprises or deployed by carriers that will use it to provide video phone service to their customers, the new V2fone family leverages Accton’s technological expertise in a whole new way. Accton is currently demonstrating the platform and the first in the V2fone family of products that were designed to meet the growing demand for high-quality video conferencing.
Accton’s V2fone technology was designed to meet the growing demands for quality in one-to-one, one-to-many, and many-to-many video and voice conferencing solutions. Providing both the server and client platforms,V2fone can provide high performance voice and video connections between the enterprise and the remote office, the customer, the vendor—any broadband users. For businesses, V2fone is poised to become the primary vehicle for intra-office communication—producing savings both by reducing the need to travel, and eliminating the costs associated with standard PSTN telephone calls. For consumers, it will make communication more satisfying. V2fone’s advanced technology overcomes the frustrations that came with past video phone solutions—its quality communication second to none. Accton used its Super Compression Codec—SFDV—to achieve more than four times the compression of MPEG4 for efficient transmission, while maintaining near DVD-class video with less latency. And, it’s compressed enough to work through a 56K modem or DSL while allowing no visible disruption with voice packet losses up to 40% and video packet losses up to 30%.Protocol capabilities also allow V2fone to be invisible to any firewall currently on the market.
Accton is rolling out its new V2fone solution with a full line of server and client products, including:
