Since 2010, an annual website refurbishment plan has been implemented for the Accton Technology Corporation website. Once again, a contemporary ink painter has been invited via the Accton Arts Foundation to work on a new version of the website for 2011, and give the official Accton website a whole new appearance .
Ink painting plays a key role in conveying cultural aspects when it comes to the the history of painting. It is imbued with culture and expressionism. The spiritually aloof scenes comprise a form of painting which best conveys the spirit of Zen and Confucian principles. Components of nature, such as mountains, rivers, flowers, and birds are the most commonly painted themes.
In 2011, the official Accton website will be presented through the themes: spring, summer, autumn, and winter. With the changes of the seasons, the index page will be refreshed. Ink painter Xiao Yu’s pieces present images of how life continually flourishes in nature, which symbolizes the expectations and visions Accton has towards sustainable business operations.
When Accton and Xiao Yu come Together: Adding an Authentic Touch of Taiwanese Culture to Technology.
We believe that the fundamental basis of art lies in creativity, while innovation is what makes technology competitive. Artistic creativity provides corporations with an innovative thought processes. Through exposure to the arts, corporations are able to create increasingly more aesthetically pleasing products and services.
This time, avant-garde ink painter Xiao Yu has been invited to introduce new concepts to the Accton website with his own unique strokes. Chen’s contemporary ink painting differs from traditional ink painting in that he expresses the essence of traditional ink painting through innovative techniques used by contemporary painters. An authentic taste of Taiwanese culture and customs can be found in his paintings, which are mostly inspired by seemingly trivial things he encounters in daily life, in the continual pursuit of new experiences which move and touch him. While Chen observes every last detail meticulously, his brush strokes are still candid and frank, carrying with them no pretense.
We have integrated one creative, humorous work about life after another into the Accton Technology Corporation website. The Zen-like air of these paintings and the constant reflection they bring to our daily life and surroundings perfectly convey the harmonious co-existence shared by technology and culture. In addition to this, Chen’s down to earth creations reflect Accton’s corporate culture of valuing the humanities, as well as conveying Accton’s corporate spirit and consistent goal to serve the people.
Artist: Xiao Yu
Xiao Yu, or Chen Zheng-Long, was born in Keelung, Taiwan in the year 1947. In 1972, he graduated from Chinese Cultural University’ art department. Chen is a unique figure in that he is one of the few people in Taiwan who has been able to survive over the long term as an artist who focuses wholeheartedly on his work. His writings, calligraphy, seals, and ink paintings have always carried his personality and character, infecting all who know him or his work with a simple, honest, naive, yet optimistic spirit. Chen has spent the better part of his life pursuing peaceful goals, competing with no one. He began practicing modern Zen when he entered middle age, which set him off searching for the ultimate forms of beauty in life.
His Work “Breaks Free from Tradition, Containing Additional Zen Philosophies within their Simplicity”
At first glance, one may be stunned by his simple, forthright image composition. His ink paintings convey a feeling which is minimalistic, yet very Zen-like. They break free completely from precise lines and depictions of perfect shapes. Through his brush, Chen conveys the most important of life philosophies through simple images of daily life and innovative strokes which depart radically from traditional ink painting. He is particularly adept at highlighting the wisdom of life through small matters like fruits, insects, in conjunction with his humorous observations of life. In response to a quote from Dream of the Red Chamber, “Although the Ruo River is three thousand miles long, one will only drink one ladle’s worth of water from it”, Chen wrote, “Although there is an entire pumpkin, I will only take one bite”. This demonstrates that apart from making observations about life, he is also capable of viewing life from a humorous perspective.
