Hsinchu, Taiwan – Accton Technology Corporation today announced its quality management systems were assessed and found to be compliant with the TL 9000 quality standards, and it has been granted TL 9000 certification. Accton is one of only eighteen companies worldwide to be granted this honor, and is the first company awarded with three-year qualification with both design and manufacture capability in Asia Pacific.
TL 9000 is a set of quality requirements for suppliers to the telecommunications industry. The requirements have been developed by the ‘Quality Excellence for Suppliers of Telecommunications Leadership Forum’ (QuEST Forum), a consortium made up of leading worldwide telecommunications service providers and suppliers, including such organizations as Bell Atlantic, Bell South, Alcatel, Lucent and Nortel Networks. To be registered as TL 9000 compliant, companies must undergo a rigorous audit of their policies and procedures, operations, management and personnel. Facilities earning TL 9000 certification must have product design and manufacturing responsibilities.
‘TL 9000 will become the mandatory quality standard for supplying the telecommunication industry. Once again Accton has demonstrated its quality leadership by being the first networking supplier in Taiwan to achieve this honor – while our local competitors still seem to lack awareness of this international standard,’ said Yi-Ming Doo, President of Accton Technology Corporation.
Doo emphasized, ‘For the past decade, Accton has focused on the Original Design Manufacturing (ODM) business and this certification is part of our continuing efforts to improve our systems to meet international competition. TL 9000 certification means our customers will have greater confidence in Accto’s product quality. TL 9000 contributes to every aspect of a telecommunication supplier’s operating system, with greater customer satisfaction the ultimate goal’.

QuEST Forum’s goal is to develop a consistent set of quality system requirements for hardware, software, and services, plus leading-edge performance measurement tools.
