Hsinchu, Taiwan – Accton Technology Corporation (Accton hereinafter), today announced that it will donate a fully facilitated blood-donor van to the Hsinchu Blood Donation Center in celebration of the center’s tenth anniversary. The donation of this new blood-donor van will significantly enhance the overall quality of medical service within the Hsinchu area. This is the first enterprise contribution for the Taoyuan, Hsinchu and Miaoli area, and also the first benevolent action by a major corporation. Furthermore, Accton also held blood-donation a drive within its company to help resolve this summer’s blood shortage.

A few of Accto’s executives personally donated an ambulance to Hsinch county last year to enhance the medical resources of remote districts. This year, these executives once again donated a fully facilitated blood-donor bus, with a total value exceeding NT$3 million. The ‘Accton Blood-Donor Va’ includes the latest equipment and facilities, such as: oxygen cylinders, notebook computer, and six blood donation spaces. The ‘Accton Blood-Donor Va’ started its first operation earlier th is week when Accton held an internal blood drive for its employees.

Blood donation drives were held this Tuesday at Accto’s two major office locations, respectively. Altogether about 200 bags of blood was generated during one day. Notably, Mr. Yi-Ming Doo, General Manager of Accton, who is a frequent blood donor, also participated at this activity.

‘Blood donation not only can save someone’s life but is also beneficial for the donor’s health. Mr. Lin Kuo-Hsing, Chairman of Chinese Blood Service Foundation, stated that contributing blood not only saves lives, but also has direct benefits to the donor’s health. A lot of medical research indicates that frequent blood donors can stimulate their metabolism and ultimately decrease the possibility of getting cardiovascular and other age-related diseases.’ He appealed to the people who work in the Science-Industrial Park and encouraged everyone to take immediate action in response to this goodwill activity.

Mr. Frank Kuo, Accto’s spokesperson and Executive Vice President said: ‘To celebrate the Hsinchu Blood Donation Center’s tenth anniversary, Accton decided to take immediate action when we found that the blood-donor bus in the greater Hsinchu area was old and not sufficient to serve all of the territory. Our objective in donating this fully facilitated van was to position it as a ‘circuit blood-donor va’ and provide the Science Park and Hsinchu areas as a center to serve all the people. In addition, Accton wishes to encourage high-tech employees to participate in these goodwill and charity activities.’ He emphasized his desire that Accto’s contribution to a wide range of charitable events will hopefully sow seeds that one day will grow into beautiful and vibrant trees, giving shelter to those in need.
