Hsinchu, Taiwan-Accton Technology Corporation (Accton hereinafter), (TAIEX: 2345) a leading outsourcing partner of advanced communication products, today announced its technology expansion into the telecommunications sector at the Taipei Telecom 2001. The exhibition demonstrated Accton latest products lines ‘Experience Tomorrow’s VDSL’ including: Ethernet All the Way, VoDSL, VoCable and VoIP solutions, providing varies solutions to Internet Service Providers (ISP) and telecom service providers.

With the liberalization of the telecommunication sector, Taiwa’s market size is expected to grow from current NT$2 Billion to NT$4.5 Billion during 2002. Today, the Internet has dramatically increased consumers’ demands for data, voice and video services, ranging from basic telephony service to broadband Internet access. Therefore, most service providers and enterprise users are shifting to a cost-effective broadband solution, which can deliver higher speeds and more reliable QoS to existing core networks. Supporting QoS to the customers’ premises, Accto’s broadband solutions provide service level agreement (SLA), allowing service providers to differentiate services to their subscribers. Accto’s broadband solutions guarantee a connection without limits.

Accto’s Ethernet All the Way solution consists of two robust technologies, Ethernet over VDSL (Very High Bit Rate Digital Subscriber Line) and Ethernet, to bring powerful and economical broadband access to users. The speed of VDSL is 26 Mbps, the fastest among xDSL technology, Ethernet is as one of the most prevalent data technologies that has the advantages of adaptability and easy access and has gradually emerged within the telecom field. According to research data, Ethernet currently has a 5:1 deployment ratio within Mainland China’s telecom infrastructure residential users. Accto’s Ethernet over VDSL solution provides high-speed and cost-effective broadband access to multi-tenant unit (MTU) buildings, such as commercial buildings, hotels and residential apartments. Accto’s VDSL family includes the ES2002-TS VDSL client modem and the ES2008-TS/2016, TS/2024-TS VDSL concentrators. These devices deliver up to 15Mbps symmetric Ethernet performance, transmitting data and voice over existing telephone wire and completely co-existing with plain old telephone services (POTS).

Accto’s Voice over ATM integrated access device solution now delivers highly integrated and cost-effective broadband data and voice services to small and medium-sized businesses with toll-quality voice and high-speed data in one device. This solution provides not only data and voice services, but also deliver video services in the future. The Voice over ATM product family includes the AD2604AA, which is equipped with four telephone lines and one ADSL WAN access port for supporting residential and small offices, and the AD2608/AD2616, which is equipped with eight/sixteen RJ-11 ports and provides one or two T1/E1, or SDSL/G.SHDSL WAN modules.

Accto’s VoCable (Voice over Cable Modem) solution offers PM1002, which is a complete PacketCable – compatible indoor 2-line VoIP cable modem built upon the ultimate flexibility for expansion to 4 outdoor lines, as well as HPNA, 802.11 and power line home networking. The PM1002 provides a baseline for real time, streaming multimedia services over the Internet.

VoIP technology has grown into the mature stage and QoS is improving performance to equal that of telephony. Research institute, IDC’s report indicated that VoIP is expected to capture 43% of world voice communication traffic on 2003; while over 60% of Internet users utilize VoIP service. Accto’s VG3604 and VG3608 products provide a voice over IP (VoIP) solution to corporate customers for building enterprise phone systems, and to service providers for delivering value added VoIP and IP Centrex services. The VG3604 and VG3608 are designed to inter-connect phones, key systems, PBXs, and C.O. trunk lines.

‘Ethernet is the most cost-effective interface among networking and communication technology, Accton has been devoted in this fields for the past decade, hence Accton has strong position in Ethernet. Given the Ethernet engineering expertise, capabilities ASIC design, combining long-term partnerships with world major networking and communication vendors, Accton is confident that it can once again make a strong position in this new field.’ Additional evidence support Accto’s presence in telecom is becoming the first company in Asia to be granted TL 9000, the world’s highest quality system within telecommunication sector on 2000.
