【Nov 16, Hsinchu】The Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy (TAISE) held the 2022 Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Awards ceremony today. Accton Technology received the “Taiwan Top 100 Sustainable Enterprise Award” for overall performance, the “Human Rights Practice and Development Leadership Award” for sustainability performance, and the “Electronic Information Manufacturing Industry – Category 1 Gold” for sustainability reporting.
Combining core network technologies and long-term partnerships, Accton develops high-quality, reliable, sustainable, and resilient network equipment solutions to connect communities and the world, and strives to become a critical part of global ICT access and equality.
Accton promotes several sustainable development initiatives that span technology innovation, social participation, and environmental sustainability. This includes the world’s first two-phase immersion cooling 100G fiber optic switch module, which can reduce energy consumption in high-speed data centers by 20%. Accton sponsors the “Net Zero Summit and Climate Action Award,” which encourages collaboration between companies and developers to create digital solutions that help industries reduce carbon emissions. In 2021, Accton drafted 27 suppliers to the Leopard Rice Project, an initiative recognized by the Ministry of Economic Affairs with a special award for environmental sustainability.
The “Human Rights Practice and Development Leadership Award” recognizes Accton’s commitment to humanistic and caring practices, human rights protection, gender equality, migrant workers’ rights, working environment better than the regulation mandates, as well as the promotion of human rights’ due diligence in the supply chain, compliance with international standards, and corporate commitment to sustainable development.
Accton has had an onsite kindergarten for many years to provide a safe and healthy working environment for all employees, and led to the “National Excellent Workplace” recognition by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the “Outstanding Workplace Equality Award” from the Hsinchu Science Park Bureau.
Employees from 14 different countries complete the Accton family and each and every one is looked after like they belong. Beyond following the Responsible Business Alliance (RBA) Code of Conduct and adopting a Zero Placement Fee policy to protect the rights and interests of migrant workers, Accton actively nurtures migrant workers to management positions, creating an inclusive, integrated, and professional work atmosphere. Many employees have been awarded the “Model Migrant Worker Award” by the Hsinchu City Government. Accton provides migrant workers with suite accommodations, hometown-style meals, physical and mental care, direct communication channels with senior executives, financial support during epidemic situations, emergency relief during typhoons that hit migrant homes in the Philippines and voting assistance during presidential elections.
For Accton, human rights protection is a way of life, not just a policy. We continue to make an impact by supporting the establishment of diverse platforms. Accton works with local governments to help middle-aged, elderly job seekers and long-term unemployed rejoin the workforce, organizes exhibitions on human rights issues, and sponsors the Dr. Chen Wen-Chen Memorial Foundation’s human rights table activities.
“The joint efforts of the people of Accton are our common commitment to the future,” said Jackal Lee, Chairman of Accton’s Corporate Sustainability Committee. Looking ahead, in addition to assisting Taiwan’s public welfare organizations and caring for families in need, Accton will use open technology to link partners, work with suppliers in caring for the land and environmental protection, and work with customers to incorporate sustainability values into product development accelerating the net-zero coexistence.
