Layer 2 and Layer 3 Ethernet switches have always been at the center of Accton’s development efforts, but wireless access points and controllers as well as universal Customer Premise Equipment (uCPE) appliances have become equally important in recent years. As the campus network environment rapidly evolves, Accton will continue to design and develop products that not only meet demanding bandwidth challenges, but also embrace new developments such as software-defined wide-area networks (SD-WANs).

Part of Accton’s services for its switch products includes the software for hardware bringup and diagnostics, bootloader development, and manufacturing test support. These software services are complemented by Accton’s own switch operating system based on Linux. Accton’s experienced software team has developed the full-featured L2/3/4 switch software for over 15 years, which includes comprehensive network management functions. The software is capable of supporting all major switch controller silicon and multiple CPU architectures.

In addition to conventional campus wired and wireless solutions, Accton has also developed a number of open platforms for software-defined wide-area networks (SD-WANs). These universal Customer Premise Equipment (uCPE) devices simplify user deployments by being able to be installed at locations with zero touch provisioning and can be managed through “single-pane-of-glass” cloud-based systems. The speed and flexibility of setting up uCPE devices in SD-WAN networks has given rise to the concept of the software-defined office. Any branch or mobile office can be quickly connected through standard private or public networks, wired or wireless Internet links, then automatically provisioned, authenticated, and configured by the SD-WAN network.

The use of uCPE open hardware platforms provides optimum flexibility and cost-effectiveness for SD-WAN networks. In addition, the Accton uCPE appliances offer high-performance computing power that can seamlessly adapt to many applications and services.
