Promotion of reading in rural areas, let children fall in love with reading from an early age
Since 2019, Accton has been carrying out the "Book to Send Hope - Vision of the Future" reading initiative in rural areas. By donating picture books and combining them with reading promotion activities within the school, it is hoped that through reading, children in rural areas can open the window to the world, thereby reducing the urban-rural gap in educational resources.
At the same time, Accton also called on the employees of the group to respond together. In 2021, a total of 1,377 books were donated with the action model where "Accton donates one book for every book donated." The recipients include Fu Guei Elementary School, Renhe Elementary School, and Minhe Elementary School in Nantou County, Zhixue Elementary School Affiliated Preschool and Shoufeng Township Preschool in Hualien County, Reach Out and Read Taiwan, etc. The total number of beneficiaries is about 1,214. From 2019 to 2021, a total of 2,927 books have been donated, benefiting a total of 2,352 beneficiaries.
Software and hardware introduced to promote reading education in rural areas
With regard to pre-school children, Accton collaborated with National Dong Hwa University Social Participation Center and donated 200 children's books to Zhixue Elementary School Affiliated Preschool in Hualien Shoufeng District and Shoufeng Township Preschool. Dong Hwa University invited early childhood education experts to be based in Hualien, and visited the preschools on a monthly basis to offer professional consultation and evaluation, providing accompaniment and support to the local preschool teachers in Hualien. Through the variety of themed education, it is hoped that picture books will spark reading habits in preschoolers and experience the joy of reading.
