Corporate Social Responsibility: Caring for Employees and Society through Emergency Assistance and Fire Safety Initiatives
Accton prioritizes not only external social welfare, but also the well-being of its employees and their families. The company considers employee health and fire safety to be one of its key responsibilities. To enhance awareness, Accton has organized a series of public safety seminars that have significantly improved both internal and external fire safety knowledge. This enables employees to apply what they have learned in the workplace and at home, ensuring the safety of themselves and their families.
To strengthen fire safety, Accton partnered with Professor Chien Hsien-Wen, former professor of the Department of Fire Science at Central Police University and founding president of the Taiwan Chapter of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers, to jointly promote “Public Safety Seminars,” aimed at enhancing employees’ and the public’s risk awareness and fire safety knowledge.
Hosted by Professor Chien Hsien-Wen, the seminars cover fire safety, disaster prevention and mitigation, and practical drills. Professor Chien is a key figure in Taiwan’s fire safety academia and has long been committed to fire prevention and disaster mitigation efforts in long-term care and eldercare institutions, working to enhance safety protections for vulnerable groups, which aligns closely with Accton’s social responsibility goals.
Accton has developed a strong partnership with Professor Chien in the areas of fire safety enhancement and disaster reduction.

Public Safety Seminar Series: Enhancing Fire Prevention and Disaster Resilience
Since the partnership began, Professor Chien has led a specialized team to conduct thorough fire risk assessments at all Accton facilities. They have developed customized optimization strategies tailored to the unique characteristics of each site. This collaboration has greatly enhanced Accton’s fire safety practices, highlighting the company’s commitment to corporate social responsibility through meaningful actions.
Accton has initiated public safety seminars that extend beyond its internal operations. Professor Chien also collaborated with the Keelung City Fire Department to hold cross-departmental fire safety tours aimed at raising public awareness about fire prevention. These seminars go beyond theoretical knowledge and focus on practical experience. Participants have the chance to operate various firefighting tools, including extinguishers and fire hydrants. This hands-on approach ensures attendees acquire real-life firefighting skills, enabling them to respond swiftly and effectively in the event of a fire, thereby reducing the risk of casualties. The seminars also emphasize the importance of early self-rescue and ensure that managers are well-trained in using fire equipment, allowing for initial fire control measures to be taken before emergency services arrive. Under the expert guidance of Professor Chien, Accton has implemented several fire safety improvements, such as automatic sprinkler systems and an enhanced fire alert mechanism. He highlighted the importance of placing equipment precisely in high-risk areas and conducted multiple drills simulating challenging scenarios. These upgrades have significantly improved Accton’s fire protection standards, ensuring that employees are well-prepared to respond quickly in emergencies.
Supporting an Aging Society: Enhancing Fire Safety and Disaster Preparedness in Nursing Homes for a Safer Community
Accton’s partnership with Professor Chien Hsien-Wen goes beyond optimizing fire safety within its own facilities, it also promotes research into fire safety and disaster response tailored for an aging society and nursing homes.
As Taiwan approaches the status of a super-aged society, the fire risks associated with low-rise residential buildings, particularly those that accommodate elderly residents, are becoming an increasing concern. This research focuses on creating customized fire safety strategies for these homes. It emphasizes the importance of identifying fire risks, designing safe evacuation spaces, and ensuring the proper installation of firefighting equipment, such as automatic sprinkler systems and fire alarm devices, to protect elderly residents.
In nursing homes, many residents are either bedridden or have limited mobility, making evacuation during a fire particularly challenging. This situation highlights the urgent need to strengthen fire prevention measures and emergency response capabilities. Professor Chien’s research has introduced several key initiatives, including the identification of fire risks, the design of fire compartments, and upgrades to firefighting facilities. Additionally, programs have been launched to provide subsidies for installing automatic sprinklers and replacing outdated electrical systems, helping nursing homes enhance their safety resilience.
Accton is committed to supporting Professor Chien’s ongoing research on fire safety and disaster preparedness. This collaboration aims to improve fire risk management in long-term care facilities and ensure the protection of vulnerable residents.
