Accton’s implementation timeline and organizational structure for the Business Continuity Management System
Accton successfully completed an external audit by a third-party verification unit in June 2023, and was officially granted the ISO 22301 Business Continuity Management System certification in September of the same year. It took about a year of collaborative effort from various functional departments within the company, including business, supply chain (procurement, production management, warehousing, import and export), R&D, manufacturing, quality assurance, information technology, occupational safety and health, finance, plant/general affairs, human resources, media relations, legal affairs, and other units to establish and implement the ISO 22301 Business Continuity Management System since its launch in May 2022.
Maximize benefits for customers and stakeholders by improving operational disruption risk management
Establishing a Business Continuity Management System can help an organization respond better to various operational impacts, improve its response capabilities, and speed up contingency actions. This is especially important in light of the increasing frequency of natural disasters, changing geopolitics, and shortages of key components, which all contribute to an elevated risk of supply chain disruptions. By planning response measures and recovery plans in advance, an organization can respond promptly and recover quickly when an incident causing operational disruption occurs. This can help to minimize the extent of damage during the disruption period, ensuring maximum benefits for key stakeholders.
The process of establishing the ISO22301 Business Continuity Management System involved multiple Business Impact Analysis/Risk Assessment (BIA/RA) sessions, post-disaster recovery action (DRA) identification, operational continuity plan script (Playbook) coaching and output meetings. Relevant documents were written and implemented by responsible units, and operational continuity plan scripts were then verified through tabletop exercises, covering emergency response, crisis management, business continuity and recovery from the occurrence of a disaster. This allowed personnel from various responsible units to become familiar with the contingency procedures.
