Regular Unified Physical Education Classes and Training

The special education class and the general class will carry out regular unified physical education or other related inclusive courses, and the teachers will cooperate in teaching or training. Utilize on-campus formal programs, Special Olympics Unified Sports clubs, and other related programs to conduct unified sports classes or training and other inclusive activities.

Special Olympics Unified Activities

  1. Competition mode: Unified sports competitions are conducted in accordance with the rules announced by Special Olympics. According to the physical conditions of the athletes, the competition methods and rules will be adjusted appropriately. The events are open to all students in the school to form an inclusive team to participate in the competition, teaming up by students with special needs and general students, such as unified basketball games.
  2. Leisure mode: Free from formal sports rules, adjustments of rules, facilities, and equipment while proceeding in a fun way, such as friendly competitions.

Promotion of Special Olympics Unified Activities

The purpose of the event is to eliminate all kinds of discriminatory language and promote a high degree of social integration through various forms of inclusive promotion activities. The events were held as follows:

  1. School-wide inclusive education lectures (for example, co-ordinating with special education promotion, conducting the introduction and promotion of inclusive education).
  2. Promoting the inclusive activities through flyers and posters.
  3. Carry out creative inclusive promotion activities by cooperating with relevant courses in the school.
  4. Make microfilms for the promotion of inclusive campuses.

The main benefits to be achieved through the above inclusive education activities are:

  1. Enhance the friendly campus atmosphere of Special Olympics Unified Schools.
  2. Reduce bullying and isolation on the campus.
  3. Enhance teachers' abilities in unified sports education and promotion of inclusive activities.
  4. Increase the participation of students with special needs in general campus activities.
  5. Enhance the knowledge, understanding, acceptance, and respect of general students towards students with special needs.
