The advancement of information and communication technology (ICT) has significantly transformed how people access information and communicate with one another. Yet, despite the profound impact of this digital revolution, the issue of the digital divide still cast a shadow over today's society.

Kid's Bookhouse: Providing Education to Underprivileged Children
"Kid's Bookhouse" has been actively involved in providing education to underprivileged children in the Taitung Zhiben area for over 20 years. They have nine locations across Taitung and have successfully served more than 3,000 children to date. Due to their wide reach, the bookhouse's administrative staff relies heavily on the internet for handling administrative tasks and communication between locations. However, poor network quality has been a persistent issue that has severely impacted the staff's efficiency in carrying out their administrative duties.

Accton Empowers Connectivity and Safety Through Innovative Solutions
Accton aims to promote "digital inclusion" through its core networking technologies to help bridge the digital divide. To address the bookhouse' network quality issues, Accton conducted multiple on-site surveys to study how the local terrain affects signal transmission. After careful consideration, Accton decided to use Terragraph 60GHz devices to extend the academic network signal from Taitung University, which is located 2.5 kilometers away, to the bookroom office. This solution resolved their longstanding network challenges and enabled resource sharing for mutual benefit.
In addition, Accton has installed a 12-meter AI Smart Pole at the entrance of the Kid's Bookhouse driveway. Apart from receiving academic network signals from Taitung University, this pole incorporates the company's Smart NVR and Smart Pole solutions. It provides 24/7 surveillance cameras recording and night lighting, coupled with image AI and IoT technology for real-time detection of traffic flow and warning light alerts to ensure the safety of pedestrians and vehicles entering and exiting. It also offers full-area wireless network coverage, serving as an interface for future AIoT applications. By leveraging technology to enhance daily convenience, Accton exemplifies the concept of "equal access to ICT" by developing high-quality, reliable, sustainable, and resilient network infrastructure and equipment.
