In 2021, President Tsai Ing-wen announced Taiwan’s goal for net zero transformation until 2050, and in March 2022, revealed the “Taiwan 2050 Net-Zero Emissions Pathway and Strategy Master Plan”. This commitment is a tremendous challenge for many Taiwanese companies.

The Digital Transformation Association (DTA) and the Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy (TAISE) have long promoted digital transformation and climate action initiatives. To connect Taiwanese companies with digital technologies aimed at carbon reduction, they launched the Net Zero Summit and Digital Climate Action Awards to foster corporate growth and transformation. The UNFCCC estimates that digital technologies could effectively reduce carbon emissions by 20% by 2030.

The Net Zero Summit and Digital Climate Action Awards started on April 21, 2022, calling for innovative developers to tackle the challenge local enterprises are facing to meet the nation’s emissions goal. On July 22, 2022, during the “Carbon Reduction Township Fierce Debate” session, eight software teams presented their original solutions levering AI, big data analytics, and AIOT technologies. With a strong focus on open technology and partnerships, Accton is proud to take part in the Net Zero Summit as a participant and sponsor.

The ambition to be net zero requires companies to inventory and analyze organization and product carbon footprints, improve their energy management and facilitate the implementation of changes. Moving forward, Accton will continue to foster collaboration between enterprises, government and academia to develop proper digital solutions that will lead to a net zero future.
