“Simplify the Process – Reduce the Waste”
Innovate from the Heart, Protect the Planet
Frontline colleagues receiving and feeding materials into the daily production process see a lot of disposable packaging materials.
After the parts are received and processed, these packaging materials can only be recycled to do our part for the Earth. Colleagues are constantly thinking about reducing the waste of resources.
Looking around our daily life, several plastic bags are delivered when ordering something, and several cardboard boxes are sent with online shopping….. convenient packaging materials for daily necessities, but it inadvertently causes a waste of resources!
“Central innovation, cloud convergence, and protecting the Earth” are the constant concepts of the company in formulating quality policies.
In addition to providing people with more convenient networking products, Accton is also constantly thinking about how to reduce the waste of resources—product packaging materials being one of them.
On the one hand, we thought about how to maintain the protection ability of the product packaging materials?
Additionally, the one-time waste lead us to another level of thinking: Can the packaging materials from incoming raw materials be used as packaging materials for product shipments? After continuous thinking and discussions, we brainstormed and made a final decision!
Originally, the product chassis was packaged with paper.
When the product chassis arrived, the carton, cardboard, and foam packaging had to be recycled and could not be reused. When shipping out products, they needed to use new cartons, PE bags, foam, and sealing tape, before they can be shipped.
After continuous consideration and improvement, Accton and its suppliers jointly planned a new packaging method for the incoming product chassis.
Now, only foam is used as the packaging material for the chassis, which is then kept and sent to the product packaging line for reuse. When shipping, the product uses the same foam and it is shipped after repackaging without any waste!
Thank you to our frontline colleagues and supplier partners for their brainstorming for the environmental protection of the Earth.
The improved foam packaging material not only simplifies the operation process to achieve productivity benefits, but also achieves substantial benefits in reducing resource waste. It saves about 408 tons of paper recycling per year—equivalent to cutting down 10,000 trees every year—and uses less water than 1.7 standard swimming pools, doing our part for planet Earth!
