With the Creation of a Public Welfare Platform to Bridge the Digital Gap, Accton has Won the Taiwan Sustainability Action Gold Award

[August 15, 2022, Hsinchu] Accton has long adhered to its “Making Partnership Work” philosophy and, since 2001, has been using the company’s information and communication technology capabilities to help families in emergency and difficult situations, and public welfare organizations in Taiwan, through the Accton E-Charity Platform. The ceremony of the 2022 Asia-Pacific Sustainability Action Awards was recently held by the Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy. Accton E-Charity Platform won the Gold Award of the “SDG 17 Global Partner Award” of the “TSAA Taiwan Sustainable Action Award” for its “Digital Partner for Public Welfare.”

Accton established the Accton E-Charity Platform (www.17885.com.tw) in 2001, dedicated to reducing the digital gap between public welfare organizations, encouraging all kinds of public welfare organizations to join the platform, regardless of service targets, and using the platform to gather people to help individual cases and public welfare organizations to obtain support quickly and make the most of resources.

Accton found that the digital gap was not only in rural areas, nor limited to minority groups, but also occurred in public welfare organizations. Accton E-Charity Platform combined Accton’s core capabilities of the industry, such as information and communication technology, digital marketing, media relations, etc., with innovative technology, integrated payment flow, search engine optimization, responsive web design, and information security etc., into the website design, providing a safe and efficient public welfare platform, and providing public welfare organizations that are not capable of digital transformation a channel for voice and marketing. With the platform’s crowd-gathering effect and marketing tools, the service concept of public welfare organizations can reach more people in a short time and gain more support and exposure.

In 2021, Accton E-Charity worked with 328 public welfare organizations and launched 301 fundraising projects. The topics covered services for people with disabilities, youth and child care, elderly services, women’s care, special medical care, etc. A total of 15,961 people responded and successfully raised about NT$33.97 million.

In 2021, the platform assisted 266 people and their families in distress, and a total of 2,903 people responded with a total donation amount of NT$2,555,000.

Accton E-Charity platform not only connected “money” from various sources, but also connected each other’s “hearts.” It started from simple donations 20 years ago. Now, 20 years later, combined with its core competencies, it has helped public welfare organizations to reduce the digital gap and created a diverse and open digital platform that connects people, matters, and things. Good people are able to do good deeds and the good things can help more people in need. Accton looks forward to more enterprises getting on board to connect resources together, enhance partnerships, and create sustainable mutual benefits.
