Acctons Business Continuity Management Competitiveness in the Global Marketplace

In 2024, Accton was awarded the SGS “IT Award – Business Continuity Management Excellence Award,” which recognizes Accton’s outstanding achievement in business continuity management (BCM). Nowadays, companies face various challenges in their operations, including frequent natural disasters, changing geopolitics, and shortages of key components…etc. Multiple factors can lead to the risk of supply chain disruptions. In order to enhance the company’s resilience in the face of various operational impacts, Accton has introduced the ISO22301 Business Continuity Management System in 2022 to ensure the best interests of customers and stakeholders, and to move towards sustainable operations.

Acctons BCM System Excellence

The judges praise Accton’s performance and achievements in BCM, including:

  • Effectiveness of BCM drills: Especially during the Hualien Earthquake, the drills demonstrated the critical performance of BCM.

Whether it is the call tree test, IT drill checklist, E-evacuation APP, or even the actual case of the Hualien Earthquake on April 3, 2024, all of them truly demonstrate the excellent results of BCM.

  • Support from senior management and dedication to resources

We have gained the support of senior executives, organized a number of interviews with senior executives, and provided individual counseling and training courses to the units responsible. At the same time, we also emphasize the business continuity capability of our supplier partners, investing human resources and placing key suppliers as the targets of business continuity management surveys.

  • Clearly defined business continuity strategy and pragmatic approach

The overall objectives and recovery strategies of BCM are quantified in concrete terms, and capacity and production are recovered accordingly in the face of operational risks.

  • Internalize employees’ awareness and shape a new corporate culture

Internally, we promote the concepts of “If you have a plan, you won’t panic,” “If you have documents, you will not forget,” and “With rehearsal, continuous improvement!” to build a clear process and methodology, and internalize it into the daily operation of the responsible units.

Five Highlights of the Business Continuity Exercise

  1. Table top+ Call Tree Test:

Verify the notification process and randomly test the notification results over time.

  1. SOPs for IT System Exercise:

Ensure rapid system recovery

  1. Monthly Contingency Group Exercises:

Familiarize with the initial response process to control the disaster and prevent expansion.

  1. E-evacuation roll call APP:

Shorten manual roll call time and validate evacuation process

  1. Post-exercise AAR (After Action Review)

Deliberate Practice, Continuous Improvement.
